Erini CS // I live on the beach... in Chicago.
I’ve previously worked in radio, as a magazine editorial assistant, as a stage manager, in a saloon at a thrill park, in a biological imagine facility working with lasers and liquid nitrogen, and even as a toy store manager.
Now I manage a school that specializes in web development and digital applications.
For print or web, writing is one of my main passions.
My B.A. included concentrations in Creative Writing and Journalism. I took a Short Story for Publications course through the Writer’s Studio at Stanford University. I attended Northwestern University’s Summer Writer’s Conference, and also attended a workshop course through Story Studio Chicago.
I’m currently enrolled in the University of Chicago’s Writer’s Studio, focusing on Short Stories.
My friend Jennie once called herself a “thingie maker” — and I’ve decided that’s a pretty apt descriptor for myself.
I like all types of design: print, graphic, web…
I enjoy arts and crafts like projects. I’ve taken first place in ceramics in an art show. I tried my hand at oil pastels and various types of painting. I found a new love in Book & Paper arts, and have even made my own pop-up book.
More than a designer, I’m a thingie maker.
I started calling myself a cat herder when I realized a lot of my tasks were eerily similar a challenge as taking on the task of herding cats. It’s not impossible, but standard methods don’t always work because, let’s face it, cats are notorious for being uncooperative and “having strong personalities.”
Puzzles and challenges are fun. I enjoy trying to find new ways of finding a solution. Whether it’s coming up with brand loyalty strategies or constructing things out of gaffer’s tape — I love it all.
I do a lot of stuff.
So much stuff that instead of asking “what are you going to do with your life?”, my mom asks “what is your day job?”
I blog, tweet, and do all the internet stuff. I hang out (aka “work”) with the best group of band nerds in the city. I started a greeting card company. I get to play video games as an enthused ambassador. I run a community band. And these are just the main projects.
Find out more about my side projects here.
Thingie Maker // I love creating things. I love writing. I love design. I love the Internet and social media (any type of media really). Combining them is just fun.

Current Projects & Happenings // I do a lot and like being involved in various things. Here you'll be able to keep up with all the lastest things that I'm involved with.

I’m super excited to announce that one of the sites I helped build is nominated for not one, but two Webby Awards!
The Chicago Portfolio School site has been nominated for Best University Site and Best Use of Video. All of us at the school are very proud and appreciative. We put many hours into this site, nitpicking every detail, and now the work’s paid off.
Please vote for us for the Webby People’s Voice awards in both categories. We’re up against some big names, and couldn’t be more thrilled to be recognized with such great sites and institutions.
Last Spring a really unique, and truly awesome project went underway. Filmmaker Danièle Wilmouth and choreographer Peter Carpenter teamed up with my friends Mucca Pazza to create a 16-minute film that highlights not only their music, but also intentional, though somewhat chaotic movement.
It’s Mucca Pazza doing what they do best: Mucca Pazza. I actually got to be a part of the film on two of the locations, and am very excited about the Chicago premiere at the 2012 CIMMfest on April 12th. Continue reading
I’ve been writing for a long time. I can remember creating various stories in elementary school, trying my hand at poetry in middle school, and then joining the newspaper staff in high school. In college, as part of my Interdisciplinary major, I focused on creative writing and journalism/PR writing. Afterwards I attended writing conferences, took a Stanford course online, and participated in writing workshops.I even attempted National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo) for the past two years.
